The short answers.
What does it cost?
Listing is free. Staylo takes 3% of rent paid through the app and nothing on deposits. Stripe’s card fee comes off each payment you receive, deposits included: 1.5% + 20p on most UK cards, up to 3.15% + 20p on premium or overseas cards, and 1% (max £4) by Direct Debit. Tenants pay no fees.
Is Staylo a letting agent?
No. Staylo is a technology platform, not a letting agent, and we’re not a party to any tenancy agreement. We provide the tools — the tenancy is between you and your tenant.
What paperwork do I need?
Gas safety, electrical (EICR) and energy performance certificates, plus proof of ownership and ID. The app walks you through each one and warns you before anything expires.
Who handles the money?
Stripe. Holding deposits and move-in monies go to your connected account with a full audit trail. Staylo never holds client money.
When does Staylo launch?
We’re launching soon on iPhone, starting in Manchester. Join the list and we’ll email you when listings open.
Founders’ perk: no Staylo fees on one property’s first 6 months of rent.
The first 100 landlords to sign up pay no Staylo fees on the first 6 months of rent for one property. If you let more than one, it still covers one of them. The six months start when that property’s first rent payment comes in, not on launch day (standard Stripe processing still applies).
